Douglas Wright Boyd April 15, 1935 - October 27, 2006 "May that which is best for all of life come to pass" --Doug Boyd Doug was a dedicated humanitarian, researcher, lecturer, teacher, activist, internationally known author, and founding director of the Cross-Cultural Studies Program, a long-range investigation of traditional and esoteric ideologies. He traveled all over the world and was a student and friend of adepts and healers of many traditions and cultures. Possessed of incisive wit, he was a master storyteller who shared personal tales of telepathic experiences and communication, rainmaking, and psychic healing from his many years of experience working with and learning from culturally diverse yogis, monks, psychic healers, and medicine people. He was a student of some, a mentor to many, and a friend to more. Books written by Doug Boyd include: Mad Bear; Rolling Thunder; Mystics, Magicians and Medicine People plus the book Swami: Encounters With Modern Mystics. For a detailed biography of Doug go to: From: Intuition Network - a nonprofit organization Special Memories of 2007 Wisdom Keepers Conference: At the April 13-16, 2007 CCSP Wisdom Keepers Conference, those in attendance celebrated what would have been Doug’s 72nd birthday on April 15th with a memorial pipe ceremony. Onondaga elder, Lloyd Elm, called in the spirits of the four directions and invited Doug in, into the empty chair that was for him. Love for Doug was palpable in the circle as Grandfather Lloyd reminisced of Doug’s love for all human beings, and his family and friends told stories that related their love and respect for him. Grandfather Lloyd spoke humorously of seeing Doug riding gleefully away on Lloyd’s now inspirit horse, Easy Girl. Lloyd mentioned jokingly that possibly Doug would no longer have his bad hair days. His sisters, Pat and Sandra, related his memorable “Oliver-Sudden-to-the-rescue!” stories and that when he was a child it felt like, “he never left the spirit world, like he was just visiting Earth……..and he was the funniest…..!” A joyful memorial birthday was celebrated which gave great tribute to Doug and helped us bear his loss from us in physical form. The CCSP Board of Directors, with Karen Malik serving as president, has voted to keep CCSP active for continuing projects such as the Wisdom Keepers Conference, The Tibetan Education Project, and The Eagle and The Condor initiative bringing shamans together from North and South America.
