Mission Statement

Flint Hills Wisdom Keepers Community Council strives to provide an experiential learning environment through the sharing of Native American wisdom and teaching to people of all cultures, creeds and colors. Through this experience, which happens once a year the weekend following Easter with the Elders Open Forum Conference, the Council seeks to provide an open, community-based environment for the sharing of knowledge, wisdom and experience aimed at increasing understanding of community, honor for our Elders, each other and to assist with the healing of Mother Earth. Honor and respect for individuality, community, and ancient wisdom are essential elements in our quest to bring enlightenment, inner peace and a heightened sense of purpose to all who belong to our Community.

The Flint Hills Wisdom Keepers Community Council hosts the Elders Open Forum with Native American Elders from the United States and Canada. The conference was brought to Kansas by Doug Boyd in 2002. The importance of the conference is the coming together of many different tribal beliefs represented by each of the Elders and their interaction with each other. Also the experience, wisdom, compassion, joy, peace and knowledge each one in attendance takes home with them is invaluable.

The Council seeks to provide an open respectful environment for the invited and honored Native American Elders and also for those attending theTipi put up 2007 Wisdom Keepers Conference, White Memorial Camp, Council Grove, KS, across small bridge. Used as breakout session room.conference.The Elders bring with them their willingness to share their knowledge, wisdom and community experience from each of their traditions. We feel this conference is necessary to increase understanding of community among ourselves as individuals and within our modern-day society so that we may assist with the healing of not only ourselves, each other, but the Mother Earth and all creatures. Ancient wisdom from our beloved Native Elders of this Earth is sought to bring a sense of purpose and belonging to all within our evolving community of those attending this weekend conference.

Respect, love and gratitude of Great Spirit, Mother Earth and all peoples are deep within the conference foundation. Starting with this source, we then Tipi with the yellow-red sun rising behind it at the Wisdom Keepers Conference held at White Memorial Camp near Council Grove, Kansascarry these feelings to those in the community of the conference attendees with joy and compassion. We also want to communicate that there is an openness available to help understand the wisdom offered for those attending the conference. Our prayers embrace all that is, that we will all come away filled with Love and Light and that we will carry with us the reminder that we can walk this earth softly as relatives to all that live. With all this beauty within all our souls, it is our desire that all attendees will carry this beauty, love, respect, gratitude and compassion with them into the world. The world thus exposed to people of true compassion will feel this tremendous love, and be drawn to them. With the wisdom attained at the conference our prayer is that all attendees will pass on this wonderful way of being to all in need.

The Flint Hills Wisdom Keepers Community Council is a not-for-profit public educational organization. All proceeds from this event after direct food, lodging and mailing costs go directly to the Wisdom Keepers project funds. These funds cover travel expenses and honoraria for the Native American Elders who honor us by their willingness to share with us.

If I have learned one thing in this life,
is that God will not tie my shoes without me.
